4.2 How do I identify it?
Here are 4 skills that are critical when learning Social Awareness:
Perspective-Taking: is the act of perceiving a situation or understanding a concept from an alternative point of view, such as that of another individual.
When was the last time you understood someone’s situation that was different from yours? Did you let that person know?
Empathy: the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
When last did you cry because of someone else’s struggles? Or have you ever spoken with someone and truly felt like you were in their shoes?
Appreciating Diversity: Understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing individual differences.
When was the last time you appreciated an international culture after enjoying their cuisine?
Have you traveled to another country and tried to understand and learn about the native culture? Explain your experience.
Respect for others— Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they’re different from you or you don’t agree with them. Respect in your relationships builds feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing.
